Theresa Raphael-Grimm, PhD, CNS , holds a joint Toto4d appointment as clinical associate professor in the Schools of Nursing and Medicine as well as an adjunct appointment as associate professor of psychiatry at the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill (UNC-CH). Dr. Raphael-Grimm is a doctoratetrained psychotherapist (and nurse) who has studied clinician–patient relationships since 1986. She has been a practicing psychotherapist since 1984 and has worked with a variety of patient populations, including those with chronic and terminal illness. She also provides psychotherapy to nurses, physicians, and other clinicians. She is the facilitator for UNC-CH School of Medicine’s Schwartz Center Rounds, which is a multidisciplinary exploration of psychosocial issues that impact patient care and infl uence clinician compassion.
